Live Mizuna

Interestingly, live mizuna is a variety of mustard, but its appearance and taste could not be more different. This plant has been ‘transformed’ into a lettuce; you will often find it in salads or in those supermarket bags with different types of sprouts (it can be accompanied by rocket, spinach and more).

Mizuna comes from Japan and is easy to identify. Its leaves are long and thin. Because of its delicate and particular shape, it is often used to decorate dishes in some restaurants. Although it is very similar to the aforementioned rocket, this plant has a milder taste, somewhat spicy but with sweet touches.

Among its properties is its high chlorophyll content. It works as an antioxidant, strengthens the immune system, promotes collagen formation, helps absorb iron, improves eye health and is an ally against osteoporosis.
