Live basil
The classic basil that we all love. If you know it, you know that you can use it in an infinite number of recipes. Its scientific name is Ocimum basilicum, it has been cultivated for millennia and can grow up to 130 centimetres long.
Do you remember its delicious aroma? Thanks to this and its particular taste, basil is used almost everywhere in the world. Mediterranean cuisine usually features it in salads ─ such as caprese─, vegetable soups, pizza and of course, the famous Italian pesto sauce.
As well as making inroads into the gastronomic field, basil has its mystical stories. In some cultures it has been attributed supernatural powers; in Cuba, for example, it is used in spiritualist gatherings, while in Mexico it is said that it can help to attract fortune by placing a plant in a shop or business.
Finally, its essential oils and antioxidants help to relieve flus, colds and bronchitis. It improves digestion, cures migraines, can prevent high blood pressure, fights anxiety, can even be used to treat wounds and bites, the list of benefits goes on and on… That’s why we consider it the most multifaceted plant!
